Silver-Spotted Skipper Epargyreus clarus
Well I wish I could say that I planned this shot but I snapped the shutter just as the skipper decided I was a little too close. You might say that I did plan the shot, but this was not the outcome I intended. But hey, sometimes we get lucky and while it was an accident it is a very unique look at the wing motion of the butterfly taking off from it's perch. At least I was standing in the right place! See quote below.
" A good photograph is knowing where to stand."

Ha! So very true (and I am a big Ansel Adams fan!) I have gotten many the perfect shot because I happen to be standing in the right place at the right time. Great capture!
yes that is lovely. I have many shots like the blurred motion, but because my intention is the static butterfly, i thought they are not good!
Thank you Karin, All the Ansel Adams pictures I have seen just leave me in awe and no words are really necessary. He really did have a gift in composing and capturing the things he shot.
Andrea, my intention in this shot was the static shot also and I almost deleted it but after thinking about it I decided that it did have some value in seeing the wing motion of the skipper. Thank you for your comments and your bog. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Love these photos, Thank you for your comments on mine and I will visit your blog often. I love it..Susie
Thank you Susie, hope you have a blessed day.

I agree Randy that sometimes the unplanned shots turn out very well - I've had similar experiences with birds that take off. I like both of these - very nice !
I'm also an Ansel Adams fan and my favourite quote is "sometimes God puts me in the right place at the right time to get the shot".
Have a great weekend !
That last shot is really nice. Look forward to reading your work. Chris Las Aventuras
Thanks Rick, Even when nature is a blur, there can still be something learned from it if we look. Great quote from Ansel!
Chris, thank you for stopping by and the kind comment. I like your blog and look forward to your future posts. Love to see new places and explore as well. Love your bird shots and the Steller Jay. I had the same issue recently with a Clear-winged Sphinx Moth. It just wouldn't cooperate for me. I guess that is where our patience gets tested.
Have a great day!
Randy
really stunning this flying butterfly!
you have catched it ! how lucky you are !
have a nice sunday
Wow! That is one of the coolest motion photos I've ever seen. The backlight on the flowers is gorgeous, too!
Thank you Marty. I'll call this one pure luck but I'll take a little luck anytime.
Thanks Sheila, the light is getting so beautiful this time of the year, it makes taking pictures a whole lot more enjoyable. It also makes it possible to take fairly good pictures during mid day as this shot was taken.
Thanks everyone for your comments! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
